If you're thinking about going electric, now is the time to act. The $7,500 federal tax credit for new electric vehicles is coming to an end — and you only have a little over a month left to take advantage of it!
Deadline: September 30, 2025
Under the One Big Beautiful Bill, the federal EV credit will be eliminated starting October 1. After that, no more tax credit on new or used EV purchases — regardless of the car or your income.
Quick Facts to Know:
Up to $7,500 off at the time of purchase (if the dealer offers the credit upfront)
Applies to eligible EVs assembled in North America
Income limits apply:
$150,000 for single filers
$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
MSRP limits apply:
$55,000 for sedans
$80,000 for SUVs, trucks, vans
Used EVs may qualify for a credit up to $4,000, but only through September 30
Not all EVs qualify! Battery and manufacturing requirements still apply. Some brands have already lost eligibility due to sourcing rules.
If you're planning to buy an EV, don't wait!
